NCC as a green campus makes healthy choices for ourselves and our planet. Our goal is to reduce our carbon footprint and to show children, staff, families, community and the world how we can live responsibly on Earth. A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases produced by human activity.
NCC is a re-certified Bay Area Green Business since 2012 and has received an Acterra Award for Sustainability. This means that NCC has been recognized for our leadership in achieving all three pillars of sustainability: people, planet and profit.
NCC AS A BAY AREA GREEN BUSINESS
Since December 2012, NCC has officially been a certified Bay Area Green Business! In February 2016, we were re-certified as a Green Business. This means our school has complied with the environmental regulations and have met the general practices and targets resource conservation and pollution prevention measures. Some general practices are:
- Track water and energy usage and solid and hazardous waste generation.
- Adopt a written environmentally preferable (or green) purchasing policy.
- Establish a 'green team' that can help guide efforts to green your business.
- Provide three on-going incentives or training opportunities to encourage management and employee participation.
- Inform your customers about your efforts to meet the Green Business Standards.

NCC AS A BUSINESS ENVIRONMENTAL
ACTERRA AWARD WINNER FOR SUSTAINABILITY
NCC has received a Business Environmental Acterra Award for Sustainability with Special Commendation and is recognized for their leadership in the three pillars of sustainability: people, planet and profit. We are honored that we are able to say that WE ARE the little preschool that received this prestigious environmental award in 2014 that were among nominees such as Google. This was a special category created especially for NCC that will never be used again.

NCC is an Eco-Healthy Child Care Program and remains committed to provide a healthy, safe, and green child care setting for the children and families that we serve.
